Poor Communication
Financial content found on National and Community Bank websites is commonly written at a 10th-12th grade reading level… whereas 54% of Americans read below a 6th-grade level. The basic disconnect is that vital information is not being delivered effectively.
Lack of Trust
As of 2021, unbanked customers chose “Don't trust banks” as the second-most cited reason for not having an account. Trust in banks is at an all-time low due to misrepresentation and putting profits over people.
Wanting Something New
80% of banking customers will switch banks if a rival offers a better experience. 1 out of 4 bank customers will abandon their banks. People want more than just a place to save money, they need an ongoing relationship with their financial partner to maximize benefits and achieve business and personal goals.
Loss of Time & Money
Compared to those with very high levels of financial literacy, those with very low levels are 4 times more likely to spend ten hours or more per week dealing with personal finance issues. This adversely affects minorities with more inefficiencies and the likelihood of incurring more debt while trying to make ends meet.
Missed Opportunities
In the second quarter of 2022, the homeownership rate for white households was 75% compared to minority rates such as 45% for Black households, 48% for Hispanic households, and 57% for non-Hispanic households of any other race.
